Linkin Park’s Timeless Tracks: A Tribute to Their Greatest Hits

In honor of Linkin Park’s return to music with their recently released project “Papercuts” — an album featuring their greatest hits and most-streamed songs — here are my top five favorite Linkin Park tracks.

Honorable Mentions
Before diving into the list, it’s worth mentioning a few standout tracks that didn’t quite make the cut: “Crawling,” “New Divide,” “Leave Out All the Rest,” “Lost,” “One Step Closer,” and “In the End.” It was especially difficult to leave out “In the End,” arguably the band’s most iconic song, and “Crawling,” a staple of their repertoire. Ultimately, I found five other songs that better encapsulate the essence of Linkin Park’s storied discography.

One More Light
Released in 2017 on the band’s final album, “One More Light” is perhaps one of the most emotional songs in Linkin Park’s catalog. Listening to it almost seven years later, it still evokes a deep emotional response, particularly in light of lead singer Chester Bennington’s tragic passing a little over a month after its release. Bennington’s powerful vocals and the poignant lyrics resonate profoundly, making this track a heartfelt tribute to his legacy.

BURN IT DOWN
Debuting in 2012 on the album “LIVING THINGS,” “BURN IT DOWN” exemplifies Linkin Park’s signature sound. With strong vocals from Bennington, energetic choruses, a toe-tapping beat, and a blend of rap, the song is a perfect representation of the band’s dynamic style. The nostalgic rush it brings is undeniable, making it a perfect addition to any gym playlist or a go-to track for an adrenaline boost.

Numb
From the 2003 album “Meteora,” “Numb” stands out as one of Linkin Park’s most popular tracks, boasting over a billion streams. Choosing between “Numb” and “Lost” was tough, but I ultimately chose “Numb” for its hard rock style and its iconic status. The song’s powerful vocals, compelling lyrics, and classic rock elements make it a quintessential Linkin Park anthem, capturing the band’s essence perfectly.

Bleed It Out
Featured on the 2007 album “Minutes to Midnight,” “Bleed It Out” is not only a fan favorite but also one of my personal all-time favorite songs across any genre. Starting with infectious guitar riffs and a captivating beat, the song blends rap from Mike Shinoda with rock and intense screams. It’s a dynamic track that showcases the band’s versatility and never fails to get me moving.

What I’ve Done
Also from the 2007 album “Minutes to Midnight,” “What I’ve Done” is perhaps best known as the outro song for the film “Transformers.” The nostalgia it evokes is powerful, transporting me back to watching Optimus Prime as the sun sets and the credits roll. With its unforgettable vocals, impactful lyrics, and striking instrumentals, “What I’ve Done” is not only a standout Linkin Park track but also a defining song of its era.

Linkin Park’s music continues to inspire and resonate, both on and off the stage. Their ability to blend raw emotion with powerful instrumentals has solidified their place in rock history. “Papercuts” serves as a reminder of their enduring legacy and the indelible mark they’ve left on their fans worldwide.
