The only thing that The Weeknd has to do is bask in the opulence of his $70 million property in Bel-Air

A luxurious Los Angeles residence has sold for a staggering $70 mιllιon to Abel Tesfaye, the Canadian music icon better known as The Weeknd, even though it was never formally listed on the market. This transaction ranks among the most expensive California property transactions of 2021.

The “Blinding Lights” crooner, whose former Hidden Hills residence was sold to Madonna in April for $19.3 mιllιon, now owns the deed to a nearly 33,000-square-foot megamansion in upscale lower Bel Air, as first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

According to property records, the owners of the Bel Air residence were married Dutch celebrities Reinout and Danielle Oerlemans; he was the founder of the TV production business Eyeworks, and she had dated Lance Armstrong while she was a professional cyclist.

The couple paid $21.4 mιllιon for the existing home in the summer of 2015, and three years later they finished a three-year renovation that added 13,000 square feet of living space, as well as an indoor pool/spa and a variety of other opulent amenities. The pair also turned the early 2000s mansion, which had a vaguely Tuscan feel, into a cutting-edge showpiece with modern pieces they carefully selected from around the world.

The house is 1.6 acres in size and sits on an extremely private, island-like tract of property with views of the Bel Air Country Club. It is greeted by double gates and a long driveway. A hammam with Turkish influences, a theater, a gym, and a separate music studio are all available to The Weeknd inside.

Nearly all of the living areas open via floor-to-ceiling walls of glass to an outdoor living room and terraces with picturesque views of the golf course. The formal living room has glossy orange walls and a soaring black marble fireplace, while the industrial-style office and formal dining room have coffered ceilings.

A tastefully remodeled gourmet kitchen with top-of-the-line equipment, two islands with waterfall edges made of marble, and copper drawers and cabinets with custom handles made from leather belts are also included. The finely planted grounds are home to a sports court, a waterfall-enclosed infinity pool, and other amenities.

The Beverly Hills Estates’ Rayni and Branden Williams represented the sellers in the transaction, while Angel Salvador represented The Weeknd.
