Linkin Park Makes History: ‘In the End’ Achieves Diamond Certification in the United States!

It’s been over 20 years since Linkin Park broke free from the underground scene and became one of the biggest rock bands on the planet. Since then, the band’s popularity has barely waned, even after the death of frontman and singer Chester Bennington. The rockers have a new reason to rejoice because they just received one of the highest honors a musical artist can win in America.

Linkin Park’s single “In the End” has been officially declared a diamond-certified song in the United States. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the organization that certifies when songs reach certain sales and sales thresholds, announced the awards on Tuesday (Feb. 27).

Songs and albums are certified diamond by the RIAA after selling at least 10 million equivalent units in the United States. This amount is usually made up of both pure sales and equivalent streaming sales.

“In the End” marks Linkin Park’s first diamond single in the United States. This smash represents a huge jump to diamond status, as he hadn’t reached that level before this week. The last time the song was certified four times platinum was in 2017. Since then, the RIAA hasn’t updated its numbers until now, when it added an additional six million equivalent units in total of your number.

The group’s next highest-charting single is still millions of units away from catching “In the End,” or at least that’s how it appears. According to the RIAA, Linkin Park’s next biggest hit was What I’ve Done, which was certified six times platinum.

Although “In the End” might be Linkin Park’s first diamond single, the group has already received a diamond plaque. Their debut album Hybrid Theory , including the single, has now gone 14x platinum. It’s basically diamonds… plus four times as much platinum.

“In the End” was Linkin Park’s first hit single and it helped them become a household name around the world. This track was one of the last promoted songs from their first full-length album, Hybrid Theory , and it changed rock music forever. The hit peaked at number 2 on the Hot 100 and remains the group’s highest charting hit.
