Miley Cyrus Steals the Spotlight in a Dazzling Tina Turner-Inspired Gown at the 2024 Grammys

Miley Cyrus has just received both a literal and figurative Grammy Award. Immediately following her first-ever Grammy acceptance for Best Pop Solo Performance, the superstar performed the smash that earned her the illustrious golden gramophone. In order to accomplish this, she donned her third costume of the evening.

For the performance of “Flowers,” Cyrus donned an old Bob Mackie silver fringed bedazzled dress featuring a beaded bandeau-style top, an ab-baring midsection cutaway, and shimmering blue and purple embellishments. She complemented the glitzy ensemble with black stiletto heels, De Beers diamond drop earrings, and her extravagantly full hair, which she unveiled earlier that evening on the red carpet. Her dance movements and attire, in addition to her well-groomed hair and attire, were reminiscent of other fashion (and music) icons, such as Cher and Tina Turner, who frequently sported designs by Bob Mackie.

Her performance was the only thing more iconic than Cyrus’s attire. Shouting “Don’t pretend like you don’t know the words!” into the microphone, the pop star had a great time berating the audience for not singing along. She continued to improvise throughout the performance, and chanted “I just won my first Grammy!” after singing the lyrics “Began to cry, but then remembered I…”

She had the entire room on its feet and chanting along by the conclusion of the number, which included everyone from Chrissy Teigen to Taylor Swift and Kelsea Ballerini. A standing ovation was aptly merited for her as she departed the stage with a physical mic drop.

In order to accept her first award (to date), Cyrus donned a black sequined jumpsuit, which was presented by Mariah Carey, prior to donning the gown. Cyrus appeared on stage and experienced an entirely relatable moment as a fangirl. “This MC will support this MC,” Cyrus declared into the microphone. “This is just too iconic.”

She continued by saying that she nearly missed the category because she was “stuck in the rain and traffic” en route there. “I could’ve missed the award, that’s fine, but not Mariah Carey,” she exclaimed. “I just saw you at the Hollywood Bowl, it was everything.”

She arrived in time to grace the carpet in a gold nude dress adorned with Cleopatra-inspired embellishments.
