Usher says he nearly formed a supergroup with Diddy, Jay-Z, and Pharrell

Usher has talked candidly about how he and Jay-Z, Pharrell, and Diddy almost formed a supergroup.

The 45-year-old singer revealed the information of the gifted group that was never formed when he spoke on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay program on Wednesday, January 31.

He remarked, “Jay-Z, Pharrell, Diddy, and I were supposed to be a group.” Yes, that is absurd. I refrained from saying “no.” No, I didn’t say that. We just got caught up, I believe. We all, I believe, became engrossed in the moment.

We were discussing it and holding private sessions to discuss it. We were discussing the business of music and how we were going to flip it. And, honestly, we were so preoccupied that it never happened.

Along with declining to feature in the 2006 film Dreamgirls, Usher continued, saying that this is one of his greatest regrets in his career: “That’s the one that I genuinely wish had occurred.”

With his performance in the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show in Las Vegas on February 11 at Allegiant Stadium, Usher is having a busy time. A new album called Coming Home, which will be released on February 9 ahead of the big game, is also planned by the “Yeah” hitmaker in an attempt to build on the success of his Sin City SB performance.

Usher’s ninth studio album, Coming Home, is a star-studded event. He’s enlisted the help of Latto, Burna Boy, 21 Savage, The-Dream, H.E.R., Summer Walker, and Jung Kook of BTS for the 20 tracks.
